Mozambique: Mozambique: World Bank Announces Budget Support

Maputo — The Executive Board of the World Bank has approved funding of 70 million US dollars to Mozambique, as direct support to the 2016 state budget and to the government's five year programme.

176,000 Face 'Acute Food Insecurity'

Maputo — Almost 176,000 people in Mozambique, mostly in the southern provinces of Gaza and Inhambane, are facing acute food insecurity due to the drought striking this part of the country, according to data released on Wednesday by the Food and Nutritional Security Technical Secretariat (SETSAN), and the relief agency, the National Disaster Management Institute (INGC).

Egypt: Agriculture Ministry - Wheat Cultivation Hits 3.158 Million Feddans

The Agriculture and Land Reclamation Ministry announced Thursday 31/12/2015 that the lands cultivated with wheat this season reached till now about 3.158 million feddans.

The reason behind the decrease of the lands planted with wheat is that there are some lands still being counted in some governorates due to the heavy rains and floods that hit them recently, according to a daily report issued by the Agriculture Ministry.

Nigeria: Farmer Pledges to Train 100 NYSC Members

An expert on agriculture, Mr Raji Riliwan, on Thursday pledged to train 100 members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Batch 'A' in agricultural production to promote economic empowerment.

Riliwan, who is the Manager of DEKORAJ Farms Ltd, Iju-Isaga, made the pledge in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.
